Trenten and I took off for Leavenworth on Sat Sep 27th with my bestest girl Didi, and her daughters Onika and Gabrielle. We didn't have an agenda for the day other than to stop often, enjoy the moment, take pictures, and have an adventure complete with some wine tasting on the way home ((since we knew we'd need it at the end of the day!!))
First stop was a knick knack candy shop just before you hit main of Leavenworth. Trenten selected a train ((imagine that!)), and the girls each got a candy. Didi grabbed her fudge and I bought Trenten a lollipop. Then we hit main street of Leavenworth to find out it was LEAF FESTIVAL and we were right on time to see the hour long parade. The kids bounced for at least an hour in the bouncy houses. God bless those houses. Quick snack at McD's (yes I know, gag) and off to a great place called Smallwood where the kids can select a pumpkin, parents can grab some late harvest honeycrisp apples, various produce, candies, honey, jams, you name it... even a bit of wine tasting was available. The kids LOVED the cow ride and the swings. There was a petting farm though we will have to do that next year. The kids were at a meltdown part of the afternoon.
We left Smallwood destined for a place in the middle of nowhere correctly named PLAIN, WA. Yup! Kids passed out and we drove to the winery called Napeequa. http://www.napeequa.com/home.htm GREAT PLACE!! I have been invited to come back with Didi and girls for the pressing the week-end of Oct 24-26, NO CHILDREN & NO HUSBANDS! Can you say GIRLS ROAD TRIP! I am honored to be invited and excited to go see. Trust me there will be pictures.
Once we reached Napeequa, the kids woke up. They played nicely outside while Didi and I did some fast wine tasting and made a few purchases. Then we were off to the promised 59'er Diner just outside of town as you leave Leavenworth on Hwy 2. We all ordered shakes, sucked them down and were off, heading home.
Trenten and I made it home about 8:30pm only because he and I needed to stop for gas and food. Plus he was being consisted of reminding me "momma I want out" of his car seat. Can you blame him?
Where was Thomas? My sweet was stuck at work from about 3am til about 3:30pm. We will have to make a family Leavenworth trip to be sure. Thomas and I did attend the Tree Lighting Festival last December 1, 2007. I should put some of those pictures up for you all to enjoy.
Much love to you all.
